I upgraded and lost nothing. You will need to update iPhoto to get it to work. Please post the full Etrecheck report. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply.

Can't Update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store

Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Hi Eric this is embarrassing I just did a recheck to copy and paste you the EtreCheck and its gone. But I will send you what I have anyway🙂. I also went into my Utility Monitor screen to check the cpu not sure what I'm looking at but at the bottom its green not sure what that means? I know there is red, and yellow and green. Eric below the 2 in red is what I always show as errors I'm just a little confused about the ram part because I don't do much on my mac?????i photo(not many) safari, google chrome for gmail, word, Microsoft powerpoint for my outlook account and sometimes Skype but that's about it other then writing a view documents for work I work out of the home in word. I don't use iTunes garage band Evernote and all the apps I haven't leaned yet...so I just don't get where all the ram is going to???

The report looks pretty clean. If Activity Monitor is in the green, then you are doing okay and not over taxing the CPU.

Other than the items in red, are you having any other problems?

If you are going to stay with Mavericks, try running the combo update. It installs all previous updates plus the new one, which can replace any files that may have become corrupted. If you are going to upgrade, you don't need to do it as the files will be replaced.

Hi Eric didn't know tomorrow was the last day for El Captain😐. Need some advice. Should I take a usb drive and save my pictures and document? Since I have not used time machine yet? When changing to El Captain will my gmail (email) in google chrome and my Microsoft Outlook account change? will I loose Microsoft word, power point excel or any other apps that came with my mac? As you can tell I know absolutely nothing about this stuff and appreciate all the help🙂 Do I have enough space do this? thanks so much feather6868

Sep 19, 2016 8:59 AM in response to feather6868

You need to download El Capitan today, even if you don't install it. Tomorrow may be too late.

I would do a Time Machine backup or use a clone to backup. If you choose not to, at a minimum copy all your important data to the USB drive. If nothing goes wrong, everything should work, but oops do happen, which is why you need to backup. Below are some clone links and some links to check application compatibility.

You need about 15 - 20 GB of free hard drive space.

Clone - Carbon Copy Cloner (Often recommended as it has more features than some others)

Clone – Data Backup

Clone – Deja Vu

Clone - SuperDuper

Clone - Synk

Clone Software – 6 Applications Tested

Hi Eric its claudia, Okay I did some reading🙂 I have iPhoto 9.5.1 installed in the purchase application list. I'm a little confused though. From what I'm getting is I'm suppose to go to the application folder and take the iPhoto folder and move it to the trash right? Then i'm going to delete as much as possible of my files and folders that I do not need to free up space. Including mail? Mail I have a question about I have more then one account I have gmail in my google chrome account and I have a hotmail account in Microsoft outlook, so I have 2 emails. Changing to Captain will this effect any of my email accounts?

Once I have done that I can either go ahead and back up my stuff (which is not a lot)on the time machine or usb drives so I don't loose my pictures and documents. I looked it up and this is what it says # of files 759.171 # of folders 166.478 Capacity 499.11GB Free Space 427.54 GB. I have allot of dup's pic's and documents and allot of dup's in emails and have no idea how this is happening???? The less I have to do and read the better my mind dissent work as well as it used to🙂 to much gets confusing. Im I on the right track here????? thanks so much for all the help feather6868 I just hope I have enough time to do this!

Hi Eric, I want to thank you for all the edvice you have given me🙂 It work like a champ! I had no problem! And iPhoto didn't go EL Captain had a new app called Photo that is where my pictures ended up. As long as you have no internet interruptions during the download you don't loose anything so I was fine🙂. till next time. Again thanks and have a wonderful day. feather6868🙂
